Distribution Management System – Route Manager

DMS6 (or Route Manager) is a sophisticated, yet user-friendly software package, specifically designed to automate all aspects of business operations for: Route / Food & Beverage Distributors.

DMS6 will run on a variety of Technologies.

Route Manager fully integrates with Accounting and Decision Support applications, which are leaders in sophistication and flexibility. Additionally, clients can optionally employ Personnel Manager and/or Payroll Manager (US Payroll only).

Route-Manager is a fully integrated software package designed to automate all aspects of a route distribution environment. All Route-Manager system components are inter-related to eliminate the redundant use of man-power and to establish a high level of management control over the business operations. The system’s automation facilities can be distributed to the various operating areas within the business, to be used by non-technical personnel. The system is user friendly and is designed to facilitate each user’s contribution to the centrally controlled system. Route-Manager performs the regular processes such as Order Processing, Billing, Inventory Management and Accounting and extends far beyond into advanced decision support capability that companies now find essential to respond to a dynamic operating environment.

Customer Database/Maintenance

This sub-system maintains the customer databases with optional route scheduling features for delivery control. Routes can be assigned to inside or outside salespersons and delivery days. Routes are linked with the telemarketing system for the automatic selection of area to be called.

Order/Billing Management

This sub-system provides for the processing of phone orders (to be delivered) and route/vending invoices for completed deliveries. Phone orders can be scheduled according to pull cycles and can be consolidated for warehouse workload reduction. Invoices can be produced for released phone orders and sent with the delivery. Route invoices and/or vending machine sales can also be processed for inventory and accounting purposes. Route invoices can be processed at the customer level or for contract sales persons for cash settlement purposes.

Inventory Management System

Route-Manager is fully integrated with our IMS Inventory Management System, a cell structured database management system developed as a specialised tool for inventory management purposes. IMS provides an enormous level of flexibility on both the overall data management and inventory reporting by giving you the ability to expand the system capabilities and respond to unforeseen requirements without programming. IMS allows you to define input transaction formats and “posting” instructions without the need for programming.

Allows you to define up to 99 report formats containing up to 13 columns of information that can be selected from the IMS database reflecting activity for a selected month or year.
Allows you to define mathematical computation formulas.
Allows you to define transaction formats that use the IMS database as both input and outputs therefore giving the authorised user the ability to perform system maintenance without conventional programming.
Allows for multiple closing of a given inventory month or year.

Telemarketing Sub-system

This sub-system provides for the selection of routes and delivery days to be called by single or multiple telemarketing operators. Additionally, it provides a menu-like order entry facility that is linked with the contract route tracking sub-system. This allows for the management of orders and generation of delivery/call lists and/or invoices for inside or outside salespersons. The system also provides for the entry of credit card details and the controls needed for the release of sales after credit approval.

Portable Data-Entry

This sub-system allows you to generate all controls required to interact with Intermec’s handheld devices. These devices allow you to generate invoices at the time of delivery and also hold regular/promotional pricing details. It also maintains the full customer database in delivery sequence for each day of the week, providing complete route reconciliation reporting at the end of each day.

Sales Analysis

This sub-system takes advantage of DSR’s Decision Support System DSS-I, a product designed for history analysis, budgeting and forecasting. A fully integrated multi–dimensional database is automatically updated by Route-Manager , including Customer#, Customer Group, Product, Product Group, Family, Package etc. DSS-I allows you to generate thousands of sales analysis reports without conventional computer programming.

Vending Machine Database

Route-Manager allows you to maintain a vending machine database and complete product load mix. It tracks both case and unit sales prices and computes full commission and/or share of revenue from vending sales. Some Report Samples (Extensive pre-designed reporting system available)

  • Database Reports
  • Sales and Billing
  • Phone Sales Order & Vending Sales Verification
  • Mass Pull List by Warehouse Location/Route/Customer Priority
  • Delivery Route Control
  • Weekday Route Delivery
  • Daily Promotion Sales by Customer/Product
  • Monthly Vending Sales Analysis
  • Monthly Vending Sales by Customer/Product

DSS-I – DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEM

DSS-I is a multi-dimensional history analysis data depository which allows for the maintenance of parallel databases automatically created for sales analysis, budgeting and forecasting. DSS-I is a cell structure Database Management System designed to track historic information and to provide management with advanced decision support capability, in strategic business areas. Its also extends the sales analysis capability of DMS6 to a virtually unlimited level.

DMS6 provides the automatic interfaces required to maintain multiple Sales Analysis models within the DSS-I data warehouses, for “ACTUAL” sales and cost activity. Users may create hundreds of statistical reports, by simply defining data extractions and report layout instructions, without use of any conventional programming. In addition to having access to the “ACTUAL” histories, users can also define and maintain parallel databases containing sales forecasts, at multiple levels (area, customer group, customer, salesperson, territory, product class, styles, colours etc.). This information can be integrated to produce statistical reports, to monitor sales performance at a more sophisticated level. These reports can be produced at multiple levels of consolidation, with unlimited key selections (customer, products etc.) and can contain up to 20 columns of extracted or computed information.

Optional Interfaces to Following Sub-Systems:

  • Accounts Receivable Management System (ARMS)
  • Accounts Payable (APMS)
  • General Ledger System (GLDSSI)
  • Decision Support System and Sales Analysis System (DSS-I)
  • Payroll Management (PMS)
  • Human Resources System (HRMS)
